Ownfy
In short
Ownfy does not collect your data. Everything you record — properties, products, maintenance, warranties and photos — is stored on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, syncs with your own iCloud account. Ownfy's developer cannot see that content: there are no servers of our own, no advertising and no third-party analytics.
This policy explains what data the app handles, where it ends up, how long it is kept and how to delete it.
Who is responsible
Ownfy is developed by Raúl Eduardo Rivero Gómez, who is also responsible for this policy. For any privacy question, write to hello@ownfy.app.
What data Ownfy stores
Whatever you enter in the app:
- Your belongings and their details: properties, locations, products, brand, model, serial number, purchase dates and prices, warranties and maintenance records, with their costs and notes.
- Photos and documents: the images of products, invoices and receipts you add, compressed and stored alongside the rest of the entry.
- Your settings: active property, notification preferences and whether you have Face ID or Touch ID locking enabled.
- Your Sign in with Apple identifier: see below.
Ownfy does not ask for your postal address, phone number or payment details, and does not access your contacts, calendar or location.
Where it is stored
On your device, in the app's local database. If you have iCloud enabled, it also syncs with the private database of Ownfy's iCloud container, inside your Apple Account. That private database is yours: the app's developer cannot query or export it, and it exists so your data appears on all your devices and survives a change of iPhone.
Apple's handling of what you store in iCloud is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not by this one.
Sign in with Apple
Ownfy uses Sign in with Apple to know the account is yours. It does not request your name or your email: it only receives the stable identifier Apple generates for this app, different from the one any other app receives.
If Apple additionally provides your name or email on first sign-in, Ownfy stores them in your device's Keychain, solely to show them on your account screen. They go nowhere else.
What Ownfy does not do
- It does not send your data to the developer's servers: there are none.
- It includes no analytics, advertising or tracking SDK of any kind.
- It does not share, sell or transfer your data to third parties, because it does not hold it.
- It does not profile you or combine your information with that of other apps or services.
Camera and photos
To take a photo from the app, iOS asks for camera permission the first time. You can withdraw it at any time in iOS Settings; the app keeps working and you can still pick existing photos.
To choose a photo from your library, Ownfy uses the system picker, which lets you select specific images without granting access to your entire library. Ownfy only receives the image you choose.
Notifications
Warranty and maintenance alerts are local notifications: your own device schedules them and their content never travels to any server. iOS asks for permission the first time one needs to be scheduled, and you can turn them off from Ownfy's settings or from iOS Settings.
Face ID and Touch ID
If you enable locking, it is iOS that validates your face or fingerprint. Ownfy only receives a yes or a no: it has no access to your biometric data and cannot store it.
How long your data is kept, and how to delete it
Your data is kept for as long as you keep it. There are no copies anywhere else, so deletion depends only on you:
- Deleting a single item removes it from the app and, with iCloud enabled, from your other devices too.
- Closing your account from Settings → Account deletes all local data and purges the zones of the private iCloud database that Ownfy uses. It cannot be undone, and the app warns you before you confirm.
- If iCloud is unavailable at that moment (signed out, restricted, or the account status cannot be checked), Ownfy tells you before continuing instead of assuming a remote deletion it was unable to perform.
Deleting the app removes what is on the device, but not what has already synced to your iCloud. To erase everything, close your account from inside the app before deleting it.
Revoking Sign in with Apple access
You can revoke Ownfy's access to your Apple Account from iOS Settings, under your name → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple. Apple explains the procedure in its support article on managing the apps that use Sign in with Apple.
Revoking access does not by itself delete what is already stored: for that, close your account from the app.
Your rights
If you are in the European Union, the GDPR grants you the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. In Ownfy you exercise them directly from the app, without asking anyone: the data is yours, it lives on your devices and in your iCloud account, and you can view, correct or delete it whenever you want.
The app's developer cannot identify you or retrieve your information, so a request sent by email would have nothing to answer. Even so, if you believe Ownfy handles any data improperly, write to hello@ownfy.app.
Children
Ownfy is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly request data from them. As nothing leaves the device, there is no collection to withdraw either.
Changes to this policy
If something relevant changes — for example, if a future version adds a feature that does send data off your device — this page and the date above will be updated, and the change will be announced in the version's release notes. What you have already stored will never start being handled differently without telling you first.
